Polaroid Camera Craft Printable | 3D Paper Camera with Polaroid Photos Craft Activity for Kids
This printable polaroid camera craft turns a classroom lesson on technology into something kids actually remember. They build a real 3D camera box, string it around their neck, walk around the room snapping pretend photos — and draw exactly what they see on the included polaroid cards.
No app. No screen. Just scissors, glue, and a whole lot of imagination.
What is this craft?
This is a print-at-home paper craft kit that lets children build their very own polaroid-style camera. The camera folds into a 3D box, has a slot where polaroid photos slide in and out, and comes with a string so kids can wear it. The included polaroid cards are blank on the inside — perfect for drawing portraits of friends, classroom scenes, or anything they see through their pretend lens.
It is a hands-on, screen-free way to teach children how cameras work while building fine motor skills, creativity, and observation skills all at once.
What's included
• 3D polaroid camera template — color version (pre-colored, just cut and fold)
• 3D polaroid camera template — black and white version (color it yourself!)
• Blank polaroid photo cards — print as many as you need
• Step-by-step visual instructions
• Instant PDF download — print from home, school, or a library
How it works
Step 1 — Print and cut. Use cardstock for a sturdier camera, or regular paper works too.
Step 2 — Cut the white rectangle slot on the front of the camera (for photos to slide in and out).
Step 3 — Hole punch two holes at the top and thread through a piece of string or twine.
Step 4 — Fold all the light gray lines back and glue the camera together front and back.
Step 5 — Print and cut the polaroid cards. Kids draw what they see and slide them in the camera!
Who is this for?
This craft is designed for children ages 5 to 8 — kindergarten through second grade. It works beautifully as a whole-class activity, a technology unit project, a fine motor center, or a creative play extension. It has been tested with groups of 24 students and every single child loved wearing their camera around the room.
It also makes a wonderful rainy-day activity at home, a birthday party craft, or a quiet creative project for curious kids who love to make things with their hands.

• No physical product will be shipped — this is an instant digital download
Tools you will need
• Printer

Q: What age is this camera craft for?
A: This craft is designed for children ages 5 to 8, which is kindergarten through second grade. With a little adult help cutting and folding, younger kids around age 4 can enjoy it too. Older children in grades 3 and 4 can usually complete it independently — and they love it just as much!
Q: Do I need cardstock or will regular paper work?
A: Regular printer paper works fine and makes a lighter, slightly more flexible camera. Cardstock (65 lb or higher) gives you a sturdier, more durable camera that holds its shape better when kids wear it around. Either way works — we recommend cardstock for classroom use since it handles more play time!
Q: Can my child color the camera themselves?
A: Yes! The download includes both a full-color version and a black and white version. The black and white version is perfect for kids who want to color it themselves with crayons, colored pencils, or markers before cutting and assembling. It's a great way to add even more creativity to the project.
Q: How do the polaroid photo cards work?
A: The polaroid cards are blank on the inside so children can draw whatever they 'photograph.' There is a slot on the front of the camera where the cards slide in and out — just like a real polaroid! Kids walk around, find something they want to draw, pull out a card, sketch what they see, and slide it back in. It makes for the most adorable pretend photography sessions.
Q: How long does this craft take to assemble?
A: Most children with adult help can build the camera in about 15 to 20 minutes. Cutting takes the longest — sharp scissors and a grown-up helping with the folds speeds things up a lot. In a classroom setting with 20+ students, we recommend having adults pre-cut the outer shape so kids focus on the folding and gluing.
Q: Is this a digital download or a physical product?
A: This is an instant digital download — you will receive a PDF file immediately after purchase that you can print as many times as you need. No physical product will be shipped. Print at home, at school, or at a print shop. The file is yours to keep and reprint whenever you need it.
Let's craft memories and learning together!
